All communication should follow the Christian ethic the Lord gave us through His example of compassion and honesty.
Beyond holding ourselves to the standards which Christ exemplifies, the following are the minimum we expect members to strive for:
1. Respectful Communication:
- Courtesy and civility: All members should be treated with respect, kindness, and empathy, even during disagreements. Personal attacks, insults, or demeaning language are not allowed.
- Collaboration and support: Encourage each other, answer questions, and share experiences.
- Constructive criticism: Feedback or criticism should be constructive and helpful, not belittling or disparaging.
2. Prohibited Content and Behavior:
- No hate speech or discrimination: Discrimination or hate speech based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics is strictly prohibited.
- No harassment, bullying, or threats: Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind are not allowed.
- No explicit or NSFW content: Explicit, adult, or NSFW (not safe for work) content is not permitted.
- No spam or irrelevant content: Posts and discussions should be relevant to the community's purpose and topics. Avoid excessive self-promotion or advertising, unless explicitly permitted in specific designated areas.
- No illegal activities: Discussions or content promoting illegal activities (such as fraud, piracy, or illicit drug use) are forbidden.
- No unauthorized sharing of personal information: Personal or sensitive information about yourself or others should not be shared without explicit consent.
3. User Conduct:
- Protect privacy: The privacy of others must be respected, and personal information should not be shared without consent.
- Credit shared content: When sharing articles, images, or other materials from external sources, credit the source.
- Stay on topic: Posts should be relevant to the thread or the broader community focus.
- Use proper language and formatting: Avoid unnecessary use of all caps, excessive emoticons, or slang. Use clear and concise language.
- Proofread before posting: Review posts before submitting to ensure clarity and correct any errors.
4. Moderation and Enforcement:
- Report violations: If content or behavior violates these standards, report it to the community moderators or administrators.
- Moderators' authority: Moderators reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these standards, at their discretion.
- Consequences for violations: Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans.
- Respect different opinions: Acknowledge that people have different viewpoints and engage in discussions respectfully.
If any member of the community feels these standards are not being met by another member, please address the situation privately with the individual. If the situation persists, please bring it to the attention of the executive director of Elevate Life. Elevate Life staff may also remind members of these standards and reserve the right to suspend members from the community who persist in communication that fails to meet these standards.
